Officers from the New Rochelle Police Department responded to a call of shots fired in the area of a basketball court on Main Street shortly after 10 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 24.

New Rochelle Police Capt. Cosmo Costa said that officers were told by witnesses that several shots had been fired near the baseball court, though there was no one there at the time of their arrival.

Costa said that a search of the area found five shel casings on the walkway and in the grass above the basketball court.

No injuries were reported.

New Rochelle Police detectives are continuing their investigation into the shots, and are currently reviewing video footage from the area.
